NYC saved $600 mln to pay for raises: police union
NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York City has "quietly squirreled away" more than $600 million to pay for public workers' raises, the biggest police union said on Wednesday, just days after Mayor Michael Bloomberg warned the city cannot afford big wage hikes as the economy slides.
